These problems were so large that two players sued the Gearbox Software company for false advertising of graphics. After that a modder got into the game and noticed a simple error in the code that when corrected made the AI much better for everyone involved.
This simply goes to show you that no matter how long a game has been developed, there is still room for error and certainly nothing is perfect especially on the first try.
After these corrections were made, the game became much more popular and fun for everyone involved. It still went on to be an excellent continuation of the series that it was trying so hard to recreate. In the end it was a good game, but it just took a lot of work to get to that point some of which simply came from the fans themselves which is never a good look for a video game company.
Details On Gearbox's squad-based Aliens shooter are thin on the ground, but it's safe to declare an official comeback for the shiny black xenomorphs and their facehugging chums in Between Colonial Marines and the mysterious RPG Obsidian is developing, publisher Sega will have the monopoly on shitting you up next year.
Gearbox are going for the authentic Aliens experience with Aliens: Colonial Marines, trying their best to remain loyal to the sources and attain the immaculate standards of the movies. You'll be able to do your best Ripley impression as you progress through the game, plagued by both monsters and quick-time events, hammering the keyboard to peel off a facehugger as it constricts your head.
Colonial Marines' main feature will be its four-player co-op mode, designed with each player holding down a specific role. The single-player will use a similar squad mechanic, though it won't be the one employed in the Brothers In Arms games - the xenomorphs don't tend to hide behind hedges you see. Though they will flank you to bits. In the single-player game a context-sensitive menu system lets you order the squad to deploy traps, sentry guns and all sorts, most likely while you hide at the back hoping they get eaten first instead of you.
We're hoping the interface follows the SWAT4 model, which will make the game a delight to play. Although this may not work during an alien rush.
The prospect of playing with other human comrades has probably already raised the Left 4 Dead flag in your mind. Certainly, we can picture how an alien surge will be similar to a zombie one. There will be significant differences - the motion detector, facehuggers and so on - so don't go running away saying said Colonial Marines was an L4D clone. While we don't know enough about Colonial Marine's single-player game to get too excited, the prospect of co-op play in Aliens is stirring some embarrassing feelings of hot anticipation in the PC.

Colonial Marines sold more than one million copies, but received negative reviews due to its technical problems, low-quality graphics, and the weak enemy artificial intelligence; the competitive multiplayer mode was highlighted as its strongest aspect. Colonial Marines drew controversy because it featured a lower graphical quality than that of press demos.
In April , two players filed a lawsuit, claiming that Gearbox and Sega had falsely advertised the game, but it lost class-action status in Gameplay Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter based on the Alien science fiction horror film series. The game's campaign mode, which can be played by a single player or cooperatively by up to four players, features 11 missions that involve players moving from one checkpoint to another while fighting opponents controlled by the game's artificial intelligence.
Opponents consist of either Alien creatures, also known as Xenomorphs, or hostile human mercenaries. Xenomorphs are fast and primarily attack with their claws or by spitting acid, while mercenaries are slower and use firearms.
As the fictional Colonial Marines military unit depicted in James Cameron's film Aliens, players have access to weapons such as pistols, shotguns, grenades, pulse rifles, flamethrowers, robotic sentry turrets, and smartguns, which automatically track and target opponents. They may also use welding torches to seal doors and motion trackers to detect unseen enemies.
Ammunition can be found on defeated mercenaries or from certain locations in the mission area. The Colonial Marines are protected by a health bar that is divided into segments. If a segment is partially depleted, it will automatically regenerate over time. Med-Packs throughout the missions may be acquired to restore lost health segments.
Players may also collect pieces of armor that protect the health bar with a secondary meter that does not automatically regenerate.
Players have a limited time to revive a player whose health has been fully depleted. If they fail to do so, the downed player cannot return to the game until the surviving players reach the next checkpoint.
In addition to the campaign mode, Colonial Marines features a competitive multiplayer mode where two teams of up to five players face each other in four different scenarios.
